JSDD’s WAE Center Art Studio Manager, Harry Klein, and Monica Schneider-Brewer celebrate the work of artist Maria Fontanez, whose photograph “PhebeMaria” was selected for the “disconnected” Exhibit at the Arts Council of the Morris Area. We congratulate all of the selected artists, as their work is truly moving. Exhibits by the Arts Council of the Morris Area,  are consistently cohesive in the way they are curated. Make it a point to get to the exhibit and experience first-hand this thought-provoking show.  The exhibit is open to the public Mondays-Thursdays from 10am to 4pm and on Fridays from 10am to 1pm and by appointment, and will remain on display until September 5, 2012.  Visit www.morrisarts.org or call (973) 285-5115 for additional information.

Anonymous asked: hi. my sister is 70% mentally retarded and she is a permanent resident. she is not yet citizen. She is also unable to do any work by herself she always need my mother to take care of her. So is there any benefits that she came get?

Each state has different benefits available.  Contact the DDD (Division of Developmental DIsabilities) in the state where your sister lives, and theywill be able to inform and direct you best.

WAE Beyond’s next six-week round of weaving classes starts Thursday, April 19.  It’s an amazing class at an unbelievable price. INTRODUCTION TO WEAVING  New and returning students welcomeClasses meet for six Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm starting April 19Learn basic weaving techniques on a table loom and create a finished scarf.Returning students will continue to hone their recently learned skills. Co-teachers, Margaret Bodell and Cynthia Alberto, are artists passionate about sharing a love of fabrics and the creative process with individuals of all ability levels. “There is art therapy out there,     there is pet therapy,          there is music therapy.Why couldn’t there be something called ‘culinary therapy?’”Thus began the mission that now brings Chef Cardie Mortimer to JSDD’s WAE Center and the WAE Beyond Members’ Club to share his enlightening, funny, emotional message about enjoying life and living every day to the fullest. He uses his 30+ years of professional culinary experience, as well as an acting background, to entertain and engage the audience while serving a delicious meal.
